Paulie's Voice Was an Impression of What Performer?

according to IMDB trivia, jay mohr is doing a buddy hackett imitation. to me it sounds more like joe pesci, especially the wiseass irreverant style it's delivered in. i was thinking maybe they tried to cast the real pesci originally but he turned it down because it wasn't badass enough for his taste. just a thought.

Jay Mohr said on the radio in Maine this morning it was a Buddy hackett impression. He also said Hackett also read for the part right before he did. As he was going in Hackett was coming out.

regardless of what they said publically, i figured it would be a bigger draw if a character sounded like pesci instead of hackett, but they seem to sound a lot alike anyway, so perhaps it makes no difference.

as i watched the film for a second time i started to notice some very subtle hackett-isms, so i guess i'm a believer and i can lay my little theory to rest.

(BTW, thank you)

When I first saw this movie and heard Paulie's voice, both my mother and I believed that it was Joe Pesci's voice. I was disapointed however, when I found out on IMDB that it wasn't him. I missed Pesci very much.

Strangely enough when I first saw it I thought it was Hackett

thats alright,my dog found the chainsaw

Hi, post from 2007. It's me, from the future. No flying cars yet. :(

I thought it was Joe Pesci too. I was bummed to see that it's Jay Mohr. He belongs in the tool shed.
