according to IMDB trivia, jay mohr is doing a buddy hackett imitation. to me it sounds more like joe pesci, especially the wiseass irreverant style it's delivered in. i was thinking maybe they tried to cast the real pesci originally but he turned it down because it wasn't badass enough for his taste. just a thought.

shareregardless of what they said publically, i figured it would be a bigger draw if a character sounded like pesci instead of hackett, but they seem to sound a lot alike anyway, so perhaps it makes no difference.
as i watched the film for a second time i started to notice some very subtle hackett-isms, so i guess i'm a believer and i can lay my little theory to rest.

When I first saw this movie and heard Paulie's voice, both my mother and I believed that it was Joe Pesci's voice. I was disapointed however, when I found out on IMDB that it wasn't him. I missed Pesci very much.
