I know right. I thought she really was on his side and helping him instead she was a money hungry hoe and sleeping behind Jesus back.
That's way too harsh of a judgment on a kid in high school, much less one growing up in the Coney Island projects, where I imagine the natural tendency would be if you are presented with an opportunity to get on the fast track to fame and fortune then seize it. Yes Lala wanted to get rich quick (Who in the ghetto doesn't want that?) but she wanted that for Jesus as well and was doing what she thought would be best for the two of them, and made poor relationship decisions along the way. By the end of the movie it seemed like she had learned her lesson and would have done things differently if she could go back in time. She definitely behaved badly but I don't believe it was with cruel intentions, I believe she would have settled down with Jesus once he got his multi-million dollar deal but we'll never know.
