The actress that had a small part here but is now on the HW 'A' list

What I found interesting here is there was a small part played by an actress that was nowhere near the Hollywood A list at the time, but since I first saw this, I think most would agree that this this actress has accomplished that.

But she is of the age now where she will soon be to old for many "A" list parts.

Tony's girlfriend in this movie was portrayed as a "no way Tony's getting involved in this *beep* even if that means Louis is going to die".

Not that another woman in the same situation might have the same reaction to it, but it makes her character less likeable.

And the actress I'm talking about is Vera Farmiga who I think most would agree is now on the "A" list in a higher position than the actress who had the starring role here which was Anne Heche who I always thought was a very good actress.

But Hollywood is a brutal place for older actresses to get big roles unless you're in the rare category such as a Meryl Streep & a few others. The double standard sure seems to still exist in Hollywood.....much easier for older male actors to get good roles.

Agree or Disagree?

I agree but...

It's not easy for any older person to get a job in pretty much any field. A little harder for women, yes, but it's hard for all.

"But Hollywood is a brutal place for older actresses to get big roles unless you're in the rare category"

That's a very common generalization that is used against men is the simple truth of it. You could easily just change a few words, and it would have the same basic meaning but it would be a much truer meaning and a much more far reaching one.

Ex. But 'the job market today' is a brutal place for older 'people' to get 'good positions' unless you're in 'a' rare category.

See what I mean? It's easy to side or generalize with your group or sex or whatever, but that is exactly part of what has kept the world so divided and conquered by elites for eons. It is part of why women were a lower class type of citizen for so long, etc, etc, etc. They were generalized and marginalized, etc.

What I'm saying is, the bigger and truer perspective is what is most important and meaningful. Perception has been used as a weapon for generations, upon generations, upon generations. If you can use your perception to the advantage of all who struggle, then it becomes much more powerful. Anyway, Farmiga has little to struggle with in terms of finances in her life, that is unless she is unwise with what she now has.
