This is a spoiler question, but I am confused...

***SPOILER ALERT!!!***

How long is Vince Caughn sentenced for? 6 years? 3 Years? Life?

reply

he actually only had to do 6 months...as part of a deal with the Malaysia governments ambassador to the US...he was to be let go with no ceremony or press...kind of a cover up...

reply

His sentence would have been 6 yrs because the other guy did not stay to share the sentence.

reply

He was never sentenced, he was still waiting for the judge to pass sentence. The 6 months was never confirmed either.

reply

I assume that he just wasn't going to be sentenced because Lewis served the entire sentence himself. Sheriff was going to be let go once the press died down, which Beth said would take six months tops.

Well at first it would have been six years since Tony did not stay. However right after Vince said he peace and pleaded guilty, the judge said he would await sentencing, so I can only imagine that at the sentencing trial, he would have found out exactly how long, but I would guess that it could not have exceeded the six years.

Once Joaquin was hanged though, they decided to (or so they say, we'll never know for sure) to let him go early though, which Beth figured would take about 6 months because they wanted to wait until the media circus died down and do so quietly to avoid any more embarrassment over the whole thing.

reply

There were several things unanswered but seeing how the affair was handled I kind of feel he was going to be hanged also. Maybe not but the 6months was said but 6 years were implied bc of the other not wanting to go which could have been say 3. I don't know though the situation was odd, l feel life.

...because they wanted to wait until the media circus died down...
In context of the situation, if media has learned their lesson and in the interest of keeping Sheriff alive, they shouldn't even be trying to start a circus. It was very clear that the judge was infuriated by MJ Major's article that shamed Malaysia in front of the world, which is why he tossed the deal that was made with prosecution regarding Lewis and hung him anyway despite the fact that Sheriff came back to share responsibility. If media continues talking sh*t about Malaysia, what's to say that they won't do the same to Sheriff? IMO, if Sheriff is to survive and get out of there, the best course of action for the media is to do nothing and keep their mouths shut.

reply

You are correct in stating that his initial sentence would have been six years however, after Lewis was executed his sister /attorney (Anne Heche) visited Sheriff and said that his sentence had been commuted to six months - it was to be done quietly, without press in order not to embarrass the country.

Cheers.

reply

Maybe MJ and the other reporters learned their lesson after the execution of Lewis.
I doubt it though, ones like her as always hungry and there's too many like that.

I wouldn't trust the word of the legislature of the nation anyway.
