Michael Caine says this is the best performance he gave in a film

Michael Caine says this is the best performance he gave in a film, in the 'inside of the actors studio' interview

this is my favourit movie , reminds me so much about the relationship in between me and my dad.

It's a lovely performance, and quite underrated these days (I can't believe how many people scoffed at his Oscar win). But he's better in several films, including The Quiet American (my personal favourite work of his), Educating Rita, The Man who Would Be King, Hannah and Her Sisters and Sleuth - and I'm quite surprised he singled this one out, to be honest.

reply

If he thinks so... then it's OK to me

Personally I slightly prefer his performances in 'Educating Rita' and 'Sleuth'. Anyway I was impressed by Mr. Caine's performance in this film.

reply

Either he was joking or someone paid him to say that. It was hackneyed and melodramatic. And his accent was crap

I just learned that he won his Oscar that year over Michael Clarke Duncan in "The Green Mile" and I think that's str8 BS. Michael Caine is one of my favorites, but the performance in "The Green Mile' was waaay more touching! Michael Clarke Duncan was robbed on that one...

Haha MCD was good but he was the worst of the nominees

1. Tom Cruise - Magnolia
2. Haley Joel Osment - The Sixth Sense
3. Jude Law - The Talented Mr. Ripley
4. Michael Caine - The Cider House Rules
5. Michael Clarke Duncan - The Green Mile

Great year for the category. John Malkovich and Chris Cooper were excellent as well.

Ummmm... Idk, his accent was prett bad.

That's insane. He's a great actor, but his American accent is terrible.

Found this in the trivia:
Educating Rita (1983) is his favorite film of his own, and the performance he's the most proud of.
