As with most brilliant shows that are underappreciated, it probably because its time slot kept getting shuffled around and the show itself was lost as a result. Not being an really, *really* popular show didn't help either.

Canadian shows go up to 65 episodes usually because that's all that's needed for syndication and usually the government funding runs out at that point, unless its a Corner Gas or DTNG.
