.... who, in quite a few episides of Slimer And The Real GhostBusters, was always pursueing Slimer. He had very thick glasses, was kinda tall, and always wore a lab coat. Its been a while since I last watched this show and the details are very fuzzy. He appeared also in one episode with the Ghostbusters, but since I havent seen the show in so long I dont remember any of the details.

I just saw this post. I'm sure you are referring to Prof. Dweeb who had a pink female dog named Elizabeth.
"You are beginning to annoy me, Elizabeth," as Dweeb would often say. Dweeb and Elizabeth were probably the funniest parts in the "Slimer" segments of this series, which is all too harshly blasted by many viewers, although I admit that I prefered the regular episodes of the series during the hour-long time slot which ran for quite a few years on ABC saturday mornings.
Dweeb reappeard in a fifth season episode, "The Slob," as well as a final season episode, "Not Now, Slimer!"

I believe Dweed wanted to capture Slimer so he could study him to become the world's greatest scientist or something to that effect.
