Bringing Ghostbusters Back

The fans are unhappy that all plans for a third movie were ultimately scrapped, but wait just a minute... There is a way to revive the franchise, and it's a way that's been practiced quite a few times before: bring the concept to TV! It worked for Buffy and Stargate, and with a good enough team of writers, I bet it could really work.

Whilst of course no one could replace the original actors, my own choice of

Peter Venkman - Matthew Perry (Friends)
Egon Spengler - Gary Cole (Crusade, A Simple Plan)
Ray Stanz - Mark Addy (Full Monty, The Time Machine)
Winston Zeddemore - Cleavlant Derricks (Sliders)

To keep the whole plot in the present, they could pretend the first movie took place in 1994 instead of 84, and then set the series to start 10 years later.
I think it could possibly work, if they got it going. What does everyone else think?

Dom.

I think its a great idea - especially if they could get matthew perry!

It would be good to see ghostbusters in the 21st century, with all the new effects available in modern film.

reply

they won't do it cause it was such a big movie they don't want to risk doing it, and bill murry said no i think cause he has some rights to the franchise. Ghostbusters 10/10

reply

bill murray passed on the idea, but doesn't have any rights to the name, the only one that has rights to it is dan ackroyd and harold ramis.

the only way a live action tv show would work is if they took it in a whole different direction and left out most refferences to the films/cartoons.

reply

matt perry and peter venkman? shut up fool, you gotta be kidding, that would be a proper rubbish show.

im very angered with your suggestion, matt perry is a loser.

reply

Nah...

I'd rather let it *not come true* than crap it to hell

(anyone seen catwoman?, or the new Battlestar Galactica?)

Let it stay what it is, a classic.

Not that crap TV is shoving down our throats these days

I think it should be a live action movie version of the cartoon with
Tom Selleck as Egon
Hillary Duff as one of the Junior GB's
Haley Joel Osment as a Junior GB's
Matt LeBlanc as Peter
Annie Potts as Janine
Blair Underwood as Winston
Serena A. Hibbard

Wow, if I could only go back to the year 2003 and warn you about the piece of crap Ghostbusters (2016) that was headed our way, you'd probably faint at the idea alone.

And, yes, they are making another cartoon series in the future. The new Ghostbusters: Ecto Force (2018) will be set in the year 2050. I think it's a rather stupid concept to be honest with you, but hey, it's Sony Pictures, so what are ya gonna do...
