Could Natasha Gregson Wagner's voice be any more grating

Every time she opened her mouth, it was like nails on a chalkboard. I realize part of that was the stupid "Hey look..we are an indie movie" concept of making the audio gritty..but if it becomes hard to listen to, it takes away the enjoyment of watching the damn movie.
