The Borg Patch

Where can I ACTUALLY download that patch that allows the game to play on other formats other than Windows 95?

I found some sites but they don't have it availible anymore.

The patch only worked on Windows 98. You couldn't really play it on XP, let alone Vista. Your best bet might be just to dig up an old copy of Windows 95 or 98.

Has anyone tried it in DosBox?

I used to play this game on Windows 98 without any problems - almost as though the game was actually designed for this system when in fact it was designed for Windows 95.

I now have Vista Home Premium and the game plays perfectly on this operating
system as well. As an added bonus over Windows 98, the game when run on Vista Home Premium even sets itself to the correct resolution and color settings without even having to change the compatibility mode! However it could be that games of this type wouldn't work on Vista Home Basic, XP, ME or 2000.

Download VirtualBox and install a Windows 95/98/98 2nd Edition virtual machine OS, and run the game from within VirtualBox. :)

The short answer is that according to my understanding there were at least two versions of this game released. The first version needed the patch and A second reprinting of the game had the patch and is easier to get running on later systems. I've played both. This second version seemed to have better audio quality too.

The file is called "borgptch" and its easy to find on Google these days. It's all you need to be able to install and run the game properly (at least on Windows XP).
