so how...?

How did the detective find Howdy's house?
Sorry I must not have payed attention enough
So the police go to the house Capy Howdy suggests on the web, they get there and walk in on an old couple having sex, then they show the detective in his car the next morning and he gets out and finds Howdy's place......How? Is it same house but just the basement?
Please tell me?

You really have to pay very close attention to this scene in order to understand how he finds the right house. He finds the house by listening to a dog barking when he is in the car and talking to Cpt. Howdy on voice chat, he looks up and sees a collie barking and it is barking at the same time as the dog on the voice chat and the dog is barking at a particular house next door. Based on his own intuition he takes a shot in the dark and hits a bullseye. The other house from the night before with the two old people going at it was more than likely next door or within a block radius of Howdy's house.

This is what's bugging me (althought I LOVE the movie)...

How did Det. Gage go from not even knowing how to turn the computer off and on to using voice chat in only a matter of 4 days... and he learned all about computers while worrying about his abducted child??

More than likely some computer tech or Genevieve's cousin Angela. Police have unlimited resources for cases like this...but it is a plot hole that had me wondering for a while too until I took my intro to criminal justice class and police process class.
