One could Wonder?

I saw "Strange Land" a while back. I think that the movie is a very creepy one just because of the topic. The Internet can really be a scary place for these sick and twisted freaks to lure people to them. I just have to wonder if this movie wasn't so low-budget imagine how scary and intense it would be. I think Dee Snyder came up with a good idea and I think if they put good money into it, it would have been GREAT. I liked the movie. I think the idea and the torturing was cool. You know, for a horror movie. Robert Enlund in it. Well, thats cool, but I think his connection to Freddy is too high ... that it takes away from this horror film. Then Captain Howdy? hahaha. That name was in the great 1970s movie "Poltergeist." So I dont know if there is any connections there. I don't know if it was just because it was the name of a Twisted Sister song. Who knows. All I am saying is ... The idea was great. The use of the Internet, the torture, the sick monster ... it was all good. In looking back, I think it would have been better if Dee kept this movie idea in the vault until he got someone cool to buy it... Then we might of had a Super Freaky kick Ass Scary master piece .... You know... what do others think?

"One could Wonder" where you got your information, for the most part.

Dee Snider should have stayed in the hair band business. Sure, the idea is a good one, but it's also not very original. I agree that the movie would have been tons better if they'd gotten some major studio backing behind it.

Torturing is NOT cool. That's the point of the movie. They "might of" *cough cough* been able to find someone a little better suited to the role of honky tonkin' redneck than Robert Englund, though I'm glad to see him in any movie (he's been lucky enough to make it into horror film history, and isn't half bad an actor... this just isn't his role. Could have seen Dwight Yoakam doing that one).

Keep the basic idea, but change the cast almost entirely and get some major backing and a full rewrite of the script, and there's a movie with potential though. Shame that Dee's screenwriting left the movie flat.

FYI...

1. "Captain Howdy" was Linda Blair's name for the spirit she was communicating with via Ouija board (and that eventually possessed her) in "The Exorcist". THAT movie was far scarier than this piece of trash. The demon in "The Exorcist" would have eaten Dee's pathetic "Buffalo Bill" (Silence of the Lambs) ripoff for lunch.

2. "Poltergeist" came out in 1982. NOT any time in the 1970s. The info is on this very site, look it up. The toy clown hanging on the wall of Carol Ann's room would have eaten Dee's character for lunch, too. Hell, I wouldn't put Capt. Howdy up against even ONE of the rats from "Willard" and expect him to win.

Anyone else reading this... if you haven't wasted your money renting this flick, please don't. Use the money you save to buy popcorn, and watch the paint peel off the wall instead. It's much more exciting.

Waste money renting it? I rented it AND bought it! Lol. No, torturing is NOT cool at all, but it does make for one hell of a concept. I think that they should re-do this film with more money (as if that hasn't been said before...), kind of like they are remaking the Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The new TCM looks very promising, even though the first one wasn't half bad...

"Shut your mouth and get your sh*t in the box!" <- I love that...

I don't think they should remake it. It's fine the way it is. Almost all remakes are a major disappointment. TCM remake sucked! Hollywood needs to stay away from horror films. Hollywood just needs to get the hell out of film period. Leave it to people with originality. They don't have it

Oh please, give it a rest. I respect your opinion on the movie, but disecting my post is a little childish. Especially when the point of my post remains. I liked the idea and thought it would have been better if it was done by a big studio. I refered to torture as being cool. I meant in a horror movie. Obviously. I never said this movie was better than Excorcist or anything like that, so now your talking about things that are not even there.

Thanks for your response, but I hope you spare other posters the torture (oh sorry didnt mean to use that word) of your anul fact checking.
