It was rated with 9/10

Why isn't it on the list of the best movies? The highest rating for a movie in IMDb is 9.1 - it should be there. Is it because it's not a us film?

Stella is not in the Top 250... Never On Sunday is not in the Top 250... Glykia Symmoria is not in the Top 250... none of Theo Angelopoulos' movies are in the Top 250...

Perhaps the blame should be put on the majority of Greek films being made for Greek audiences alone, or simply not marketed enough to become MAINSTREAM hits abroad (Even though some directors become art-house favourites, like Theo Angelopoulos or Nikos Nikolaidis)

No audiences=no votes=no place in the Top 250.

Personally, I wouldn't pay too much attention on the Top 250 as a mark of a fim's worthiness - indeed, very often it's exactly the opposite. Titanic was #3 in it at some point...

It needs more than a high rating. It needs enough votes to make it to top-250. If I vote for a movie and give it a 10 but I am the only voter for that movie, the movie will have a rating of 10 but not enough voters to "count" towards the top-250.

Of course, in this particular movie's case, it helps - a LOT - to be Greek or to have lived the era and been informed of what was hapenning in Greece at the time. The humor is there, all over the movie, but is not your standard "Anglo Saxon" sense of humor. While different, in essence, it is more hillarious at times and more "multi dimentional" as it serves as satire to a political regime that has "marked" modern Greece.

Even if not Greek, it "speaks" to all men that have served a mandatory military service as it depicts the stupidity of armies and military personel the world over. A must see, whatever the case :)

Be VERY careful what you say. It will be stretched, twisted, altered and THEN used against you!

So... what is the number of votes in order a movie be able to get into top-250?
(Meanwhile, rate is 7.4)
