is this horror ?

Its mainly a psychological thriller with a few gruesome scenes. Amazing film though.

Wouldn't really call it a horror film. Like the other poster said, it is a psychological thriller with elements of horror. Kind of like a David Lynch film, it isn't strictly a horror film but it has moments of sheer terror from the incredible atmosphere Kurosawa has created.
