Is it just my copy, just the 2005 release, or a general fault with the DVD that the recording of Hotel California is full of ugly noises that sound like a dangling microphone and that suddenly stop with the guitar change after the song? No other version I found (the video on Youtube, the iTunes version) has those noises, and it's not something that vanishes in bad compression.
shareYou're right. And if you notice the video carefully, you'll see it comes from Frey's black acoustic. Maybe something was wrong with the pick-up, maybe he was strumming it using a rough plectrum, I don't know. But yeah it was there and I believe such a natural sound adds to the natural acoustic beauty of the song.
