June 29th on TCM

I'll have to check this out. One of those virtual unknown movies that could turn out to be a gem. Thanks TCM!

I've already got a DVD ready to record it. I haven't seen it before, either. Can't wait. And yeah, thanks TCM.

Too bad TCM is putting it on in the middle of the night.....at least in my neck of the woods it is. Hopefully, the next time it comes around, it will be at a watchable time for those of us that have to get up early.

How did the DVD recording go? Like someone said elsewhere in this thread, the commercial DVD release cuts out a certain scene. This is apparently because the commercial releasers are blind philistines who cannot see the dark and brooding artistry which is immersed in every frame of this deeply philosophical movie. It's an insult to the director and everyone else involved in this film. Of course, the movie was shown in pan-and-scan, but it's an evil worth enduring to see the last half of the movie, after Dr. Braun returns with the morphine he got from the asylum.

TCM says the film's not in its schedule now that they've shown it. I hope you were able to capture the film in its uncut entirety for posterity, and thank you on behalf of all those who can appreciate art that you attempted to (and hopefully succeeded) in recording it to a digital format for safekeeping.

Yes, just watched it. Excellent, and uncut. But it is a scope film and they showed it pan-and-scan! And the DVD available is in correct aspect ratio but accordng to an Amazon review it has one of its most important scenes in a brothel (about 7 or 8 minutes long) cut! You can't win
