Joseph A. Wapner, the judge who presided over the birth of the courtroom-reality TV genre, died Sunday after having been hospitalized earlier in the week, according to multiple news reports. He was 97.

I got a message on my apple iPhone 5s from a news app the day he died and I came to this website to announce the devastating news on the Joseph Wapner page. I was glad to see that he was mentioned on today's episode right at the beginning. RIP.
