Did anyone else...........

Have a crush on Spike as a child?? Or was it just me?? Its something Ive always been very embarrassed over. I really disliked April, I actually thought she wasn't good enough for him.

reply

No, me too, and I agree, April was not good enough for him, she was a bit too much of a little madam!! She looked sweet but she could actually be quite bossy, Spike needed someone more sweet and innocent

reply

He'd have been better suited to Peggy. April was quite manipulative and conniving behind that butter wouldn't melt image. She acted like a spoilt brat most of the time.

reply

LOL yes I agree!!

Peggy was more innocent and would've been better for him!

Spike was a character that most modern men could take a lesson from - lol - it would be great if they were all as nice as him!

reply

I've just seen this show in the past year, and even then I have only seen twelve episodes, the first twelve.

My first impression was that Spike would be good paired up with Peggy.

I thought April must have been one of the female yellow coats, but I quick check shows that she appeared later on, in about the sixth season.

What was her duties exactly? To foil Ted or something?

reply

April was a female yellowcoat, but only joined in later series.

I agree that Spike and Peggy would've been a good match!

April did try to help Spike to foil Ted, but then she became quite annoying herself... that's life I guess LOL

reply

Yeah I wanted him to get with Peggy! They would have been a great couple!

LOL yeh I will vote for Spike in that poll :)

He's sweet because he is not judgemental, even though he upholds standards himself.
He is very understanding and caring towards everyone, including the dodgy old Ted!

Now where can I find a real Spike?

You're not the only one!

Funny that he was never promoted as much of a pin-up, eg in Radio Times etc.

And yes, I remember April as very irritating.

Gladys sings about four lines from a song being played by Ramona during the South Sea island leg-over race . I think the song may have been a one off in the late 1950's but we cannot remember what it's called . Almsost all the other songs in Hi Di Hi we know what they are, but this one has our family beat. Please can anyone put us out of our misery . Even our friend of a friend of the late Russ Conway cannot help us .
