In real life he was missing a tooth and lip synching "Why do Fools Fall in Love." I wonder what was behind the story of him peforming on national tv like that? In the movie it seems that Zola tried to help revive his career. Anyone knows anything? I would love to hear your input.

Well, obviously you're not a groupie or a whore. Most of the women that be with famous singers are usually the groupie type. When a man has talent, money, and fame, or was at least someone of name value, it attracts some women and they'll put up with the guy's stuff, just to say they're with someone famous.
Look at most of these rappers, most of them aren't beauties, but women be throwing themselves at them, why? Because of the money, fame, and so-called talent, the women want some of that.
