Are we really supposed to believe Larenz Tate is 12 years old? It looked so ridiculous. They couldn't cast a kid as young Frankie? I was sitting there watching Larenz Tate playing Frankie singing "Why Do Fools Fall in Love," and I found it so stupid. We're supposed to believe that's him singing? It was so silly. They should've found a child actor to play young Frankie Lymon. Not a grown man. When Frankie grows up in the story they can get an older actor. Even the scene of him singing Goody Goody looked stupid. It was so laughably bad.

Well for one, you have to understand that of course there were so much more to the story than meets the eye. Frankie was having sexual relationships at a very young age and I do mean VERY young age with women twice his age and I don't think they wanted to get to into that in the film which is quite understandable.

No one in the movie stated he was 12. Maybe where the movie started, he was older.
