There's a short clip of the real Frankie at the end of the film and it's obvious that Larenz Tate didn't really resemble him at all but I really don't know of anyone else who could have pulled off this role.

You're right Larenz Tate didn't resemble Frankie Lymon at all but Gary Coleman did he looked more like Frankie Lymon at the end of the movie when he was singing "Why Do Fools Fall In Love". Too bad Gary Coleman couldn't sing or dance because he could have played Frankie Lymon at a younger age in the movie. Then as Frankie got older then Larenz Tate could have played Frankie Lymon older. Truthfully speaking when I first saw the movie WDFFIL at the end of the movie when Frankie Lymon was singing their hit song WDFFIL I said to my husband doesn't he look like Gary Coleman and he said yes he looks more like Frankie Lymon that Larenz Tate do younger that is.

The song at the end of the movie WDFFIL is not "Why do fools fall in love". It is "GOODY GOODY".

You're right it was Goody Goody my mistake. But didn't Frankie Lymon look
like Gary Coleman younger instead of Larenze Tate?

omg, i thought i was the only one who thought he looked like gary coleman. how could three different women fall in love with THAT?!

You know who I think resembled Frankie Lymon both in personality type (without the drug-influence) and physical appearance? Nat King Cole.

Flanagan
