Why don't they show this on TV anymore?

I remember once about 10 years ago they showed this on Nickelodeon at Christmas Eve, but I haven't seen it on TV since. Has anybody else?

reply

I don't know why they can't air this before a football game on New Years Eve. They brought back airing the Thanksgiving show, so I can't see why they can't air the NEW YEARS episode.

Oh, and they need to release this on DVD!

It was on ABC tonight (I happened to quickly switch over to ABC cause I did NOT want to watch the stupid movie on Disney) and barely hit record on my HDD/DVD Recorder. I didn't get the very beginning and I think they cut out the part about Charlie Brown's Book report grade......but at least it was on.

They need to just RELEASE this to DVD! ABC did not ADVERTISE this special, either.

They just showed Rudolph's Shiny New Year, too. That was the first time ABC has ever aired it. Usually its only ABC Family that airs that.

reply

And....they played the closing credits!!! Major kudos!!

By the way, "Rudolph's Shiny New Year" originally aired on ABC from 1976 to at least 1979.

reply

well, then it aired before I was born, cause I wasn't born until Jan 1979.

Happy New Year Charlie Brown BETTER be released onto remastered DVD soon.

reply

That makes sense.

reply

Happy New Year Charlie Brown aired a 2nd time and they still forgot the part about Charlie Brown's D- grade for his book report!

I am SO sure that there is a part in the show...at least it was on my official VHS copy anyway......

reply

The next project was for them to read "Crime and Punishment" by Fyodor Dostoevsky!

Charlie Brown faints...

Linus: "Happy new year, Charlie Brown..."

reply

It's on right now. I am watching it. I also feel the need to note that this is the one show where they give "The Little Red Haired Girl" a name.

Charlie Brown writes her an invitation to come to the party. Goes to her house to put it in her mail slot and gets his hand caught then he says "Hello, Heather, Is anyone home?"

reply

They forgot that part AGAIN! They forgot the part about the next assignment for Charlie Brown + his grade on his book report! Now I will be forced to buy that "I want a Dog for Christmas Charlie Brown" DVD just to get Happy New Year, Charlie Brown (why is it a bonus on that lame special? Why wasn't it a bonus with the Christmas show so I could have an excuse to double dip?) And even then, its NOT guaranteed that it'll have that part. :(

Actually it deserved its OWN release (and could have "Its Flash Beagle, Charlie Brown" as a bonus).

Not sure if it helps, but that part is in the version that's on Hulu: http://www.hulu.com/watch/202613/happy-new-year-charlie-brown

They just started back showing it a couple of years ago. ABC has gotten the rights to all of the holiday Charlie Brown cartoons. They show all of them now even some of the other cartoons they used to air from time to time, they show them right after the holiday ones.

reply

It's on right now just as it's been for several years close to New Years.

Well, most people are idiots with bad taste...so there!

It's on ABC right now.

It on NOW!
I can't believe I've never seen this!
