The one thing that really put me off about this movie was (Spoilers)

The fact that Emma didn't get her comeuppance. I mean, here she is betraying her boyfriend, cheating on him and planning to kill him. And she gets away scot-free and gets into Harvard! That part just really put me off. I hated that she got away with it.

But I guess in the end, Chris really did love her. That’s the only reason I can think of that he would let her live.

You have to listen to the ending. When the shrink asks Rand what convinced him to take the 4.0, he said that Emma said they should all go to Harvard together which I interpreted as Rand & Chris setting Emma up for Natalie's death (which she caused anyway). Rand had to know she wasn't because Emma & Tim knew.
Chris also told the cops that Natalie was pregnant and they found out she wasn't.

That is an interesting way of looking at it. I must admit, I didn't think about the possibility of Chris and Rand setting Emma up to take the fall. I went for the easy answer - I.E. Emma was seen walking with Chris across the campus, therefore she sided with them and got away with it.

That would also explain the flashbacks a bit more at the end. I just assumed they were used to tell the audience that it was Emma who was really pregnant and not Natalie.

At least, that's what I got from the ending.

Regardless, you've definitely left me with a lot to think about. I think I'm gonna watch the movie again tonight.

Or.... feels like "Clue"

Chris & Rand confronting Tim covers that they were plotting to kill Tim, while simply taking vengence on a "sick puppy". Then, turning to "Emma" -- 'we'll let you take the 4.0, and keep silent, if you'll be our "puppet"'.

There are three conspiracies.

Could have been four, but Emma and Natalie were two in dorm, not three.

Did it even show the test was positive? I don't recall actually seeing the result of the pregnancy test. I recall she looked at the test then she looked in the mirror (kind of psyching herself up for her "upcoming performance"), and she told her roommate the test was positive. With Rand "dead" she wouldn't have been able to handle to news of being pregnant, so she killed herself. That's what my interpretation of the end as far as her side of it was. As far as her getting her commupance (sp?), I believe if she had died, it would've made Chris and Rand look suspicious. I know people would probably say, the suicide note they wrote for her was probably her saying she was so distraught over all the deaths, she couldn't handle it, blah, blah, blah, but think about it this way. The authorities thought Rand was dead and Chris killed him, right? Wouldn't it stand to reason that if 3 of the 5 "committed suicide," the 2 surviving friends would look suspicious? In my opinion, that would be what was going on the Chris and Rand's minds, and they knew Emma didn't want to die. So, they figured they give her the choice "You can either keep our secret, we'll keep yours, and you don't die. Or you can go over the cliff with your little buddy." That's just how I perseeve this movie.

Why do you think Emma is the only one who deserves a comeuppance. Chris and Rand also get away with murder and get into Harvard. Plus, Chris and Rand were just as ready to kill her as she was to kill Chris and Natalie. They all deserve each other.

i dont get the ending. i wish they had killed her too.
