The movie is great/anyone know if it's based on a true story?(click in)

Yasmine Bleeth did a fabulous job in this movie. She fit the part well, and the acting was impeccable. I'm just curious to know if it's based on a true story. if so, where can we read about this story? I remember reading at the end of the movie that "Danielle Stevens was charged for first-degree murder and is serving a life sentence at a prison. She has developed a beauty queen training program which helps the inmates feel positive about themselves." So i'm under the impression that this is a true story. can anyone confirm?

reply

yes, it is, the movie said that at the end

Yup, it's true.

I'm a pageant girl and although I've never seen anything THIS bad happen, sabotage happens all the time. It's really quite sad.

who were the real people involved in this? does anyone know

reply

I know the ending had a blurb about "Danielle" doing a stint in prison. I was just wondering if that blurb was true or if it was just the directors trying to add a comedic ending to the movie.

reply

This movie is ficticious! this was not a true story!

If it is based on a true story, then they changed the names. But I don't think that it is.

It IS based on a true story.

reply

No, it is not a true story. The ending blurb was done for comedic effort, people. It's 100% fictitious.

based on a true story its says so on wikipedia

An aspiring beauty queen Danielle Stevens (Yasmine Bleeth) and her overbearing mother Cathy Stevens (Jill Clayburgh) may have resorted to murder to ensure a win in an upcoming pageant. After the murder of a beauty queen, an investigation reveals the suspects to be the former lover Riley Baxter's stepmother Patrice, rival contestant Danielle, and Danielle's highly ambitious mother Cathy. At the end, it turned out, that the murderer was Danielle Stevens, who was found guilty by the jury and sentenced life-long inprisonment. In 1997 at the time of making the film, she was already serving her prison sentence.

Because everything on Wikipedia is 100% accurate.

If you even try looking this up in google, there are no news reports of a beauty pageant queen murdering a rival. I say Wikipedia is false and that this story never happened. Sure, it's plausible in some state and some point in time, but it being based on an actual story? I call bull.
