Why not?

Why can't a guy wear a dress?

One thing the movie chooses to ignore is that all the other students in the school are required to wear a uniform. So the dresses are unacceptable because they are not the required uniform. Wearing of non-uniform clothes can be debated simply on the basis of whether uniforms should be required.

I think the reason why guys don't wear dresses is becasue they have anatomy that flops around and some people consider that to be objectionable. Whether their objection is justified or not, it is matter of respect and considertion of others for guys to not wear dresses. (I am trying to make my comments as independent of my personal opinion as possible.)

I don't know if you are a male or not but when a guy wears underwear it does not flop around, what you are objecting to is people who go commando and thats a different story.

That's what bothered me throughout the whole movie. The nuns could easily have said that the boy isn't wearing the school uniform so he can't participate in the school activities. The fact that he is wearing a dress is just as irrelevant as if he was wearing a t-shirt and jeans. No uniform, no school.

And the same goes for that cowgirl. No hat and no gun belt.

Wow. I don't what guys you know, but not many guys I know will be flopping around so much that it will be visible through a normal skirt. I think you are way over-estimating how much the viewing public will be able to see.

In fact, most women who don't wear bras will do a heck of a lot more noticeable flopping around under their clothes than a man will. It's just a matter of size and physics.

I think what you probably mean is that, out of respect, men who wear dresses should also wear underpants. I'll agree to that as long as, out of respect, women also wear underpants and bras.

If a guy sitting down got an erection wearing a loose dress and no underwear, it would be highly noticeable, and I am understating that so as to keep my comment reasonable. There would be people in most any public place that would object to seeing a man like that.

That's true. But we already have this problem with guys who wear running shorts, kilts, or sweat pants with no underwear. So this would not be a new problem.

Over the years I haven't noticed this raging problem of guys getting erections in public. Most guys I know have learned to control their urges. I don't think dresses would be a major problem.

You are a guy. How often do you get a woody in public?
