What was Dierdre's Fate?

A mystery to me that is bigger than what was in the Case, is what was Dierdre's fate...

She was already assigned to deal with Seamus because he was a loose cannon. IRA probably would execute her for losing the case in the end, clearly it had ramifications, that the IRA had to make a deal directly after losing what was in the case... but the IRA could have reassigned her and rightly blamed Seamus for the *beep* at the Ice Arena. Dierdre stood toe to toe with Seamus and threw his *beep* right back in his face ... remember he was in trouble and could no longer show his face, and that is why she had to run the team, she might have had to face a tribunal but had a good defense that she did not control the team given to her by the man in the wheelchair and had to move early when the team was not ready, plus needing more members, plus dealing with Seamus *beep* her at the Arle meeting where Sam got shot and Seamus murdered Larry the Driver (needs an Audi with a powerful enough engine that can shovel a bit) I always liked Larry's character.

Killing Larry was probably Seamus's start to killing the whole team including Gregor who now had the case, and he didn't want a fully functioning Mercenary team to wrestle the case away, so he decided to start killing everybody that had no further use to him.... either way that was a clear sign that Seamus was not someone you want to cross. And another indication that Dierdre was not to blame and another indication that this was Seamus's mess to begin with...

Sorry, I don't know how to link it but it's the alternate ending. Nothing changed accept we know the fate of Dierdre.

It is still on youtube well over 5 years later.

Here it is:

She might have been able to get free from the van guys but most likely not.

lol it wasnt like a james bond movie where everybody who fails a mission gets executed lol.

sheamus not being able to show his face means that the IRA were after him, "who have you been talking to?" now we don't know what he did that made them put a contract on his head, but just the fact that he needed to hire mercs in the first place when the IRA would have just used their own men shows you that sheamus and dierdre were not working for the IRA, but their own purposes. Sheamus was obviously against the peace agreement, a hard-line republican, and whatever was in the case was obviously going to help him prevent a deal between the Nationalists and Unionists

Excellent points, make a lot of sense.

there's a highway that is curling up like smoke above her shoulder

But the test audience didn't. That's why the producers wanted the ending in which Deidre just drives away.

One of the deleted scenes shows her being pulled into a van by some guys, presumably to be killed.
