This movie is worthy of a bottom 100 place

Ok its a telemovie or direct to video, but it is one of the worst movies of all time. An absolute piece of trash.

I am sure you all agree....it has no redeeming features at all.

I haven't seen this movie, nor do I intend to, but it might be worth pointing out that "marabunta" is a word for army ants that seems to have originated in the George Pal movie THE NAKED JUNGLE (1954). "Marabunta" does not occur in the Carl Stephenson story, "Leiningen Versus the Ants," that was the source for Pal's movie. "Marabunta" is a word for a small, brown wasp of no harm to anyone. So the makers of this movie not only didn't have an original idea in the first place, they even lifted the (alternate) title from another movie.

I actually liked the film, and thought that it was intentionally funny as well as a quality horror/suspense film.

"Marabunta" is a real word that originated in the late 19th Century in Guyana, and it was originally for a type wasp, yes. Here's the MSN dictionary listing: http://encarta.msn.com/dictionary_561538879/marabunta.html

Whether anyone used "marabunta" in real life for ants I don't know, although it is irrelevant to the value of the film. It's conceivable as a nickname for fire-ants, though, as they "sting".

Bottom 100 is a little harsh. There are a lot of other TV movies just as bad as this. At least it's not offensively bad. This movie is too low-impact to even insult your intelligence. This is what I call a "water" movie: completely lacking in flavor.

totally crap!

Wow...what a piece of junk. This movie is a t u r d.

I agree.
I don't think I've ever seen anything worse than this...

I do absolutely agree. Guess that I reminded this film reading the IMDB chart of the worst films ever: and I thought: "where is Marabunta? possible it's been forgiven?". No, it just didn't take enough votes, I guess. So, let's call for a poll: Marabunta must be present in bottom 100, and in a high position: it's our duty for next generations.

Come on, folks. 'Night of the Lepus' is *much* worse than this. <G>
