Flawed but wonderful

I know this movie has flaws, and big glaring ones at that, but I still think it's a masterpiece. Really great, especially in the characters of Henry and Simon.

What are these flaws you see? I don't see them.

The acting is god damn awful, for starters.

I don't see it. Hartley has a very particular style of direction for his actors. You may have interpreted this as bad acting on thier part.

Yes, what a terrible interpretation, and do you even know the smarter side of life!
You should watch all Hal Hartley's films (as a pleasure and torture), then you should get a clue, and most importantly - stop projecting onto everything that it must deliver what you decided it should deliver. Hal Hartley's characters are always incredibly cerebral, intellectual and absurd, or simply just absurd - (to play off against the rebels / artists/ outsiders/ intellectuals / etc.)
That's his style and it's even better than perfectly VALID for two, most important reasons, you idiot fascist: 1) he therefore makes what some of us desire oh so much, oh yes we do - original films w/ an ambiance as unique as any film maker has ever created, and 2) yes, some REAL people do think and talk basically like his actors act out. Rare people, extremely honest & extremely smart people, (those 2 qualities together are already extraordinarily rare), whilst frankly, remaining as sexy as STILTED people can be. You see, I have all those qualities, yet am ruggedly handsome & roguish, & highly athletic as well - but always chose to engage more w/ my cerebral, philosophical fetish - so some of my friends were just like Hal Hartley loser nerds. Am I kidding somewhat, exaggerating? Ideas are more powerful than the petty squabble you seem to have imagined here. The rogue in me says **** you, and I detest that IMDB censors swearing. Good day :)
