Is this film worth watching?

Just wondering as I hadn't heard of it before until today, I'm a big fan of Trainspotting, is The Acid House good?

reply

Yes. If you enjoy many of the characters and the humour from "Trainspotting" then this might be up your street. The theme is different and it's far more abstract than "Trainspotting" with more far-fetched themes rooted in fantasy such as a man being turned into a fly by God and a body swap between an acid taking football hooligan and a newborn baby. Don't expect something that matches the greatness of "Trainspotting". But if you look at it without making those unfair comparisons while still seeing certain similarities stylistically and in some of the characters it is still well worthy of watching - with a very good soundtrack and some really funny dialogue.

I actually enjoyed this film more than Trainspotting. I thought that it was much funnier and that the storylines were more interesting.

I didn't know Trainspotting was a comedy.

trainspotting is absolutely not a comedy and i cant believe that person is comparing these movies based on funny-ness levels. just because a movie has moments of comedy in it doesnt means its a comedy...

True, but Trainspotting is a black comedy of sorts, and therefore the two films can be compared with this common theme in mind.

ricky-roma never said it was a comedy he said if you like the "humour" in trainspotting!

It's worth seeing once but doesn't warrant repeat viewings. It's hopelessly directed and the 'comedy' if that's what you can call it is at it's very base level. If you're expecting another Trainspotting you'll be very disappointed.
