Didn't expect to like it, but I did.

I was alive when Elvis met Nixon in 1970 and thought it was surreal at the time. I was a supporter of both of them then. (Nixon has dropped off my favorites list in the intervening years however.) This movie portrayed an over-the-top satirical view of each of them, but it was just the right amount of camp acting.

The high point for me was Nixon and Elvis singing "My Wild Irish Rose" in the Oval Office.

Supposedly much of the events depicted in this movie were true. Elvis was quite the odd duck, traveling "incognito" in his purple suit with cape and cane and diamond rings.

A funny movie with just enough true stories mixed in to make it quite entertaining.

From my research, it was true, even down to what Elvis was wearing when he took off on his own. EXCEPT, nowhere can I find anything about E facing down a donut shop full of black guys with a pistol. And I didn't care for how they portrayed the King, over obnoxious, arrogant, and way too cliche. Still, it was entertaining, a part of the Elvis story that most people aren't even aware of.
