Goosebumps anyone?

Everytime I watch this movie I always always get goosebumps. Even after seeing this film a million and one times it never fails. I am just curious to know if anyone else feels the same way?

reply

Absolutely! The characters are all adorable. It makes you long for a chance to meet each one personally. Or at most, wish you "had" friends similar in personalities. I would love to have a best friend like Grace or Megan.

And I'd love hair like David Duchovny.

A RESOUNDING YES! This movie was made to make us all believe in miracles and love all over again! This movie is filled with humor, love and spirituality. The relationships, including family, friend and romantic, are real and not idealized. Note that the people argue, get frustrated, cry, show fear, laugh, play and celebrate life together. It is their genuine love for one another that keeps them going. That gives ME goosebumps! The marriage of the Bonnie Hunt/Jim Belushi characters is SO REAL. So terrificly funny, too! These people are as real as my own family and friends. Their sarcastic humor and focus on family are very familiar to me. What especially rings true with me is the spirituality. The main characters are all Catholic....they pray, talk to God and put life into His hands without hesitation. Yet, this part of the plot is not overtly done. As a Catholic myself, I thought it was refreshing to see people of my faith depicted in realistic, humor-filled, loving terms. If Bonnie Hunt isn't Catholic......I would be very surprised. She writes like she knows us! I watch everytime I see this movie on TV and I laugh out loud each time! It is breathtaking!

I love this film. It's one of the few that i can watch over and over and not get tired of it.

I love that film too! It is great! When his wife dies, you can actually feel his pain!

I agree, when he cried you could feel it coming from the depths of his soul. He did an amazing job in that scene.

I adore this movie! So cute and sweet. The scene where Bob is crying and they show the surgery with the Jewel song Angel standing by plays never fails to move me. I agree with the other posters who mentioned the catholicsim and prayer. it is so nice to see. Bonnie Hunt is catholic and I like that she puts it in her movies but not as a point that would take attention away from the plot. It is just a wonderful movie that I feel I can watch over and over. I grew up with relatives straight off the boat from Ireland so the Carroll O'Conner character and friends really hit home for me. It is nice to see a movie that focuses on the romance as real relationships without a lot of extra sex and language which is pretty much a staple today. Not that I would refuse to see a movie like that its just nice to see a romantic comedy that reminds me of the old romantic movies of the 40-50. This is one of my top 5 romantic comedies of all time!

What a wonderful thing to say about a movie!
It most definitely reaches me as well!
I love love love the scene where david leans against the door. He doesn't have to cry. It tears your heart to pieces anyway. Him crying would have been over kill.
I love love love the elderly gentleman. I miss these type of creatures.
I hope to be one of those in female form one day.

I love this movie and yes, I feel the same way each time I watch it.

(Kinda like Steel Magnolias in the sense that I still cry and laugh over that cemetery scene. No matter how many times I watch it, I still have the same reaction!)

The characters in Return to Me are so sweet. Love the Catholic bits in it. Grace's grandfather praying all the time. The old guys all joking around with each other and being protective of Grace.

Just an all round wonderful movie.

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy!

So, can we take it that's your considered opinion?

This was one of those films you watch because you have nothing better to do, knowing that you are quite likely to be switching off ten minutes later to go and watch some paint dry.

Instead, it turned out to be a real gem. Sentimental without being at all mawkish and containing some genuinely funny moments. OK, the storyline was a bit far-fetched, but the twist by which Grace discovered she had Elizabeth's heart was brilliant.

I especially enjoyed the scene where the nun gets such a kick out of a spin round Rome on Grace's bike.

I definitely get goosebumps every time I watch this, after the surgery, when Elizabeth/Grace's heart starts beating again, and Bob's eyes open, as if he hears the heartbeat. So touching.

How's this gonna work if you don't do what I say?

I love to watch movies. I started keeping track back in '90 and I've seen almost 2000 movies since then. I seldom watch one more than once, because there just isn't time.

But Return to Me is one that I had to buy. I've probably watched it 10 times, over the past few years.

Even though I can practically quote the dialogue, I still get goosebumps and I tear up when Elizabeth dies and when Grace realizes what has happened with the heart.

I always have to watch the DVD extra of the old men singing "Danny Boy," and I'm sorry that didn't make it to the film.

I'd love to live in a neighborhood just like that, where you can walk everywhere and where everybody knows and loves everybody else.

Retuen To Me is one of the few films that i can watch over and over.

My wife and I have watched it AT LEAST 25 times. I am amazed that I feel almost the same depth of emotional response each time. We never tire of it. Way to go, Bonny Hunt!

Return To Me was a very underated film in MHO. It did make a modest profit for MGM. It really should have had a bigger boxoffice. I'm sure it has done well on DVD.
