This series is darker than I remember it.

I've been watching this on Netflix and it is much darker than I remember it. I had no idea there were so many deaths on the show (not the main character) and I was surprised to see them show beatings. Strange how I don't remember this when I used to watch it.

I was watching an episode the other day. To paraphrase, a conversation went like this:

Character 1: So, what will we do once the children have been sacrificed?
Character 2: We'll poison their water supply?

Human sacrifice? Poisoning a village's water supply? IN A KIDS CARTOON?? They really don't make them like they used to!

To lose is to win, and he who wins shall lose.

I only noticed that too when watching the show and that's why it's as enjoyable to adults as it is to kids. It never pandered to kiddies. I bet there are few kids' shows today that can say the same.

There was a real chicken sacrificed on one episode during the final educational bit. even the narrater was clearly upset by the gruesome footage
