Unfinished sub plot?

I just saw this movie for like the second time ever today, and i don't remember what ever became of the subplot where murtaugh was being investigated by IA for being "on the take", they showed scenes where he's handing out 20's to his kids like he's Tony Soprano, he's always wearing nice suits, has that boat, Riggs even asks him and he blows him off....did the movie ever close this subplot or is it just left open for the viewers to forget about?

his wife wrote those sex books under a pen name. He tells him during the end shoot out.

Yeah! You have to listen closely because a lot of these sub-plots are worked through during car chases and gun fights.
