who saw this in the cinema?

Who saw this back in the day? What are your memories - the anticipation of seeing it in the weeks/days before, the actually seeing it and how much a big deal was it where you were back then, the crowds, audience etc and after coming out of the cinema what were your thoughts and in the days/weeks that followed.

I saw LW4 in the cinema (actually was the first and only LW I saw at the cinema. too young to see the others. had seen them on vhs at that point though so was a fan) I remember I was really looking fwd to it as summer 98 was abit of a letdown (aside Dark City which came out summer in UK and was mind blowing) - Lost in Space, Godzilla, Avengers were bad (although I remember mildly enjoying both LiS and Avengers at the time in spite of the terrible reviews!), XFiles and the 2 asteroid movies were okish but nothing to go crazy over, Private Ryan was obviously a classic but hardly enjoyable summer entertainment. so LW4 (which I remember reading in Empire had happened kind of unexpectedly due to Superman Lives falling apart and WBros needed a big summer movie fast) was the one to really look forward to (came out mid Sept in UK - something to look fwd to before going back to college). Also it was kind of a bigger event than usual as Mel Gibson had become such a big deal since LW3. I mean he was a huge star for LW3 of course but since then hed done Braveheart which had pretty much elevated him to #1 of the A list stars. plus hed followed that with Ransom which was a huge hit. so the fact he was coming back to LW was kind of a huge deal at the time.

anyway remember really enjoying it. while obviously feeling the same as the rest it also seemed something of a step up.. as if LW was really getting with the times (Jet Li, kung fu, bigger action, modern cars, even Riggs new haircut - which was in itself quite a big deal). I remember desperately wanting Riggs jacket!

It was the only one I got to see in theatres, too (I was in my early teens at the time). I've never thought about it before, but yeah, it's probably my favorite '98 film. At that point I had only seen 1 and 2. It was definitely a treat to be able to see Riggs and Murtaugh on the big screen. This film still strikes all the right nostalgia chords with me. Every time I watch any of them, it turns into a marathon.

I remember seeing it with my friend Dave at the Aviation Mall Theater in upstate New York. We were huge fans of the series, and I recall us both feeling very unsatisfied after the movie. The third one I saw at Downtown West Cinema in Knoxville, Tennessee. Part two, I can recall seeing at East Towne Mall - same theater where I saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Batman that same summer. The first Lethal Weapon I only experienced on VHS.

I was 21 and we heard of a free screening of a new WB film at local cinema so my girlfriend and I went along. All we were told was it was the guy from Mad Max and it was a cop film. Well, the rest is history. That was Lethal Weapon and I remember that night so vividly. The action, the humor, and the applause at the end!
A wonderful night, now nearly thirty years later, I can never just watch one at a time. I've seen all of them at the cinema. Wonderful legacy and a benchmark in Action cinema. I'm glad to see that the films cross the generations intact. Thanks for making me feel old by the way.

I did. Was 11 at the time and couldn't wait to see the Jet Li fight scenes :D still remember arguing after the movie who would win in a real fight . Dunno why but the charm of watching movies in cinema has long gone for me. Last one i watched was back in 04-05 Day After Tommorow & Kingdom i think

Here's a list of movies I watched in the cinema http://www.imdb.com/list/ls054620058/

This was the first one I saw in the theater. The consensus at the time was it was too late for another entry and the actors were a little too long in the tooth. I didn't care and already didn't like LW3 that much so I didn't have high expectations. I absolutely hated the film. I didn't feel it meshed well with the trilogy. A different feel to the production, a lot sillier and over the top. And of course changes they made. It wasn't till years later I grew to really enjoy the film and saw it as a good ending to the series. You know how time is. The world itself kept changing so much, that step child of a 4th film didn't feel so odd with the other bunch any longer.

Not me, but I did see Pulp Fiction with a woman I will never not have a crush on.
Pulp Fiction upon first watching was a complete hoot !
And she's still a very attractive woman.
