2-disc DVD set (Czech + US versions) from Sinister Cinema

Sinister Cinema (sinistercinema.com) has just released a two-disc set containing both the original Czech film Ikarie XB 1 and the US version Voyage to the End of the Universe. The original is widescreen and subtitled, the US version "flat" (pan & scan) and dubbed. Price is $16.95, though SC has frequent sales (including one ongoing as of this date, April 12, 2010, through July 31). I haven't yet gotten the set and have never seen the superior Czech original, so having both versions will be great.

I took advantage of Sinister's $98.00 Sale last month and got it with ten other titles and it's pretty good picture & sound quality wise for both versions. I kinda prefer the American English version with the classic late night TV "Peter Fernandez" dubbed voices myself. Recommend it too!

As per my Gog post of a moment ago, Ikarie XB 1 is on my still-to-be-ordered list...but once more thanks for your useful review of this set's qualities!

I own an old copy I bought on VHS eons ago. I had no idea the original print even existed. Thank you so much for this link. I just saw clips of Ikarie XB 1 and started hunting around and it led me here. I'm gonna get an early christmas present for myself from Sinister Cinema! Happy Holidays!

Hello T.I.E.: Sinister Cinema currently has its (supposedly last-ever) $98 sale -- 10 DVDs for $98 -- going through mid-January. It's a great bargain, if you can take advantage with a full ten. Ikarie XB 1 is still available, and worth it. Glad you got the information! Happy Holidays to you too.
