They matched the music SO well.

I only saw this movie once, when I was 11-12 years old. I still remember the music and the dances...

exactly! me too; i randomly found a clip online for a polish film, Salto, which also had weird 1960s freeze-dancing, and it brought the whole thing back to me... can't believe i finally figured out the title of this movie.

I think the name of the choreographer is František Halmazna.

I thought it was very daring to try to imagine futuristic dancing...they pulled it off without looking too silly....

To me it seemed Mode meets Victorian. I guess that's the future of dance.
