The name for this "live-action" is clearly wrong, its not based of the Dragonball manga or anime,

As i see it after seeing the movie,
Well.. its just another remake of "Monkey King" which is also the base for Dragonball and a dozen other manga's out there (Saiyuki Reload/Gunlock, SF Saiyuki Starzinger beeing 2 that comes to mind)

Look it up, otherwise, i'd give this movie a 4, 4 points for humour, 0 points for the rest (low-budget can be alot better).

However, i gotta say, the Turtle Hermit rules this movie.

I haven't seen it....yet. I see the effects are bad and all, but does it have a solid story? Is it a remake of the original dragon balls(here dragon pearls)?

The effects are bad because it came out in 1989.

Yes , all of thoes shows are based off of Monkey King but...this movie is based off of Dragon Ball ( Just look at the suites...it`s pretty obvious what they wrere going for )

Seriously that comment is utter nonsense. Some of the best effects were done in the 80's. I don't get what people love about CGI so much. It looks so fake most of the time.

Two words: Low Budget, and apparently, this movie is all but budget. Don't ever compare movies like The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi to movies like this and say "the special effects were better in Star Wars" because half the time, Asian movies didn't have much in budget, especially with movies like this. You must be retarded if you think everyone in the world has the same budget for everything from an American standpoint.

Thsi film has such terrible effects because it was made in 1989 i doubt ANY of you expected loads of special effects and green screens and if you did then your retarded. Ive seen enough old films to know a "Good" one when i see it and this is it.... Nah im joking its *beep* lol

This is Dragonball man. Not only they are looking for the Dragonballs (Dragon-pearls), but Master Roshi is the same freaking character from the manga, I mean check out his custome with the sunglasses and all!!
