What happened with Jet and Steve?

Over the course of "Annette", Steve becomes progressively more attentive to Jet. (Annette is the attractive new girl in town, and of course he's nice to her, but there's no real spark between them. Annette likes Steve but is more interested in Mike.) After Jet, Laura, and Steady fall into the pool, Steve is very quick to bring Jet a towel and have a tete-a-tete with this sopping wet girl to whom he is clearly attracted.

In the immediate aftermath of this incident, we don't see Jet or Steve for a while, as the story follows Annette. The next we hear of them is at school, when Steve tells Annette that he knows Jet's OK because he visited her at home on the intervening day. Neither he nor Jet has anything more to say on the subject.

At the party for the entertainment committee in the final episode, Steve and Jet spend nearly all their time side by side, looking at each other - like a new couple.

So what exactly happened on that visit that we never saw?

That Steve is a fickle guy. One moment he's all over Annette, another moment he's following all of Laura's orders, and then he's making googly eyes with Jet. I mean, pick a girl.

But I think Jet and Steve got together. Annette was with Mike and Laura was only staying there for a semester so it's only obvious that they would.
