Why did Steve Guttenberg steal the name of a perfectly good Phil Hartman character for his crappy Actionberg character?!?

Where the name is being used in this film its taken from celtic football player billy mcneill. Most of the characters names in this film are former celtic players most of them from the european cup winning team

shareHe's also a Celtic player who won the european cup as are some of the other characters in this film so its a bit more likely that they named them after the celtic players unless it was just a huge coincidence that they got more than one of the players names in the film. Also the writer is from Paisley so he quite clearly know who Billy McNeil is. It's not that i'm denying that this character exists i'm just saying that this film is only known in Scotland cos the writer seems to have used the name of a famous football team in the film instead of thinkin up character names
