I gave up on this show

Back in like 2011 or 2012, hadn’t found it funny in years (I remember imaginationland being the point where I admitted to myself that the show really wasn’t that good anymore). Then just recently I decided to give it another go and I think I just watch an episode from Season 18 and it really wasn’t that bad. Sure it wasn’t as good as the first 8 seasons but it was definitely better than what we got from like 2008-2011, anyways have the really recent ones been decent or did the show lose it’s sense of humor again?

I think the winter is coming is the last best episodes when kenny was the princess, the black friday one

reply

That was funny

reply

When did that episode come out?

reply

Interesting

reply

I gave up on it around S15 or 16. I briefly got back into it during the PC season, which was decent, but then the next year was just unwatchable so I'm out of the loop again.

reply

By far one of the dumbest episodes I have ever seen is scrottymcboogerballs. I just saw two episodes from season 18 and they were ok but one of them spent the last third spoofing wacky races which is kind of an odd thing to spoof, is anyone really going to know what that is? It’s some silly cartoon from the 60s that only lasted one season. Also if you have to point out to the audience what it is your spoofing then you’d might as well not even bother

reply

Wacky Races is AWESOME!

reply

I like the imaginationland episodes.

To me season 12 was the last decent season. After that just awful and almost unwatchable.

reply

Imaginationland wasn’t god awful but at the same time it was very underwhelming and nowhere near as good as what came before it. The Tourette episode was also pretty bad along with the lice and biggest crap in the world episode

reply

I think we have different tastes, I found the tourettes episode and the biggest crap episode hilarious.

reply

Why were all the pedophiles carrying guns and how did they not realize they were walking into a TV studio? Also why didn’t everyone run out the first time a man committed suicide in front of them?

reply

You're looking for realism in south park? Come on now...

reply

Well of course South Park isn't realistic just when it goes that unrealistic route I expect there to be a joke in there somewhere. I have no idea what the joke was? Was there an incident of a pedophile shooting himself when he realized he had been busted that I'm just not aware of? That would have made that scene funny.

reply

Dude... that is like THE ELEMENT of which South Park's humour rely since the very begging: exaggerated caricatures.

reply

I get that, I just didn't find those episodes funny. Season 1 was the funniest in my opinion.

reply

I'll never give up on South Park! As long as Matt and/or Trey is still creating it that is. Funniest animated show in the history of TV. Is it as funny as it was in its prime? No...but it's still very funny, still one of the better shows on TV. I look forward to every new episode, making sure I watch it as it premiers.

reply

I agree, but I PERSONALLY put Family Guy in the same basket!

reply

Yes, I do as well. There are times when I think Family Guy was the best show ever. But 60% of the time, I think it about South Park! :)

reply

Same. Ride or die since '97, baby! There's never been an episode that I didn't like.

reply

I stopped watching around season 15 and by then I had only been watching it when I had nothing else to watch. I loved the show when it first came out all those years ago but somewhere it just stopped being funny for me.
Just this week they brought it onto Netflix in my area so I thought I'd give it another go, starting where I left off, but gave up after a few episodes.

reply

maybe we just grew up

reply

I may be in my mid 40's but I certainly never grew up.

reply

EVERY EPISODE,EVERY SEASON,UNTIL THE VERY END....IN MATT AND TREY WE TRUST.

reply

I stopped watching it years ago when it became clear that Stone and Parker were becoming too old to mock pop culture (and kept being six months behind the curve) and began lacking so little discipline that they were using their show for petty squabbles. I think I quit the season involving the Lorde orc. They actually wasted an entire season on a one hit wonder to piss off a critic who complained about a joke they made about her. That may have been the season when they made fun of the Food Network and the Shake Weight a year after everyone on the planet had made the hand job joke and Food Network personalities were no longer popular.

reply

Spot on, that season was a big pile of crap mostly. Now we get so little of the boys as well. It's Randy 24/7.
Mr Mackie turned into a background character and same with Mr garrison.

The show is ruined and it feels like we are just watching a corpse slowly decomposing, just to see if it shits itself at some point.
