In regards to the new episode: What kind of upside down world do the writers live in?

School shootings couldn't possibly be given more attention than they get. Every single major news outlet posts about it when it happens for many consecutive days with major headlines. With all kinds of activist messages about banning guns alongside them...

They don't, it was a dark humoured look at what could happen in a world where it becomes way too common place if people are not careful. Plus for all the news reports, for all the protests, for all the attention they get, what is actually happening to change anything, yes the news cycle is longer about them than most things but it's not helping or changing anything is it.

Reality is laws don't even need to be changed at all, all that needs to happen is for the existing laws to be enforced and the departments that are in charge of it all to have the resources available to them (instead of having cuts made as they have had).

The episode actually brought back memories for me of Terry Gilliam's 1985 Film Brazil, where there is a Terrorist attack at a restaurant, the band continues on like nothing happened and some of the diners also do the same. With one table load continuing on with a convo then complaining to the Maitre 'd about the noise, another while picking debris form his jacket complains about some food being rare. This was all set against how there were Terrorist attacks all over the UK by the IRA and in the US by the Black Panthers, Weather Underground, Jewish Defense League plus others and of course the PLO were at full operation with terrorist attacks and plane hijackings.

This episode was a bit of dark humour in that vein for mine so I enjoyed it because I saw it in that light as a warning about complacency and staying vigilant so as that scenario never occurs. Was almost a companion piece to how they had Trump elected as President of Canada because everyone took his run as joke, as was said in the episode they let the joke go on for too long and he was mistakenly elected (dangers of complacency again).

This is the scene from Brazil: https://youtu.be/U4KFNhxibec

I do not find any humor related to the topic of school shootings. The episode was a bizarre failure.

reply

You missed the point of the episode entirely. Whooshed BIGLY

reply

Ok, please tell me what the point was other than the intellectually dishonest notion that people don't care anymore when school shootings happen.

reply

No, shut up you fat retard you’re too stupid to get it.

What kind of upside down world do the writers live in?

A world with Trump as the POTUS

reply

No, that would make them live in the real world.

reply

Eh, it's mirroring what's happening in the US right now in this day and age. Mass shooting happens, outrage by the families and the left, everyone else think they're crazy when they want to ban all guns (some of them anyway) and then nothing is done with everyone else going 2nd amendment rights.

reply

If this was the message, then it was painfully badly delivered.
