Why do people hate Garret?

Sure he was in a wheelchair but that doesn't mean he was a problem to the team. He kicked ass and saved others multiple times.

I don't think the show was trying to be PC like some other people think, especially since the characters didn't really act that way. Kylie wasn't a typical goth chick for example.

People in the cartoon didn't had a problem with Garret being in a wheelchair, Garret himself didn't think that. Remember the episode with the wish granting ghost?

Garret's wish was to play in NBA, but in a wheelchair, he didn't thought he was less worthy just because he was in a wheelchair, he often made jokes about it too. The dude acted like he wasn't in a wheelchair

Seems like the only people who have a problem with him being in a wheelchair are people who post here, ironically.

I completely agree with you, Garrett was a strong character with just as much to offer the team as the rest of them

I like Garret, but was always thinking how his wheelchair never rolled off by the kickback of the proton beam.

I don't hate Garret. I do, however, think that attempting to bust ghosts in a wheelchair is a good way to end up joining them.

It's not like he had much choice haha.

I didn't hate Garrett because he was in wheelchair. I hated him because he was obnoxious. He was portrayed as overly cocky, can practically do anything, and do nothing wrong. Any character can come of annoying just by giving him those traits wheel chair or no wheel chair. Consider it horrible character writing 101.

reply

I don't know what you mean, he was portrayed as wrong in many episodes.

Besides, Eduardo was cocky as well.

reply

When? Most of the time he was right and the character hardly ever acknowledged he was wrong. Like that one episode where all the teams fears were coming to life. And he kept bragging about not being scared of anything even when the episode ended. He also wasn't funny. His one liners came off flat and annoying. You can also tell the writers were trying real hard to make him the cool guy. Which is another horrible writing mistake. Forcing coolness on a character doesn't work and makes the character irritating.

Yeah Eduardo was cocky but they also made him look like a fool many times to balance it. He was also funny and endearing. He's the Bill Murray in these series and was actually one of the better characters on the show. Probably the closest of the characters to the originals.
