List the worst dialog in the movie!

Everyone seems to love ripping on the worst, cringiest dialogue from this movie and the other prequel films. List the lines that made you cringe the most below!

One that made me cringe even as a kid but no one else mentions is when Sideous goes “my little...greeeen friend....” to Yoda.

Also: “No (oddly creepy chuckle) it’s because I’m madly in love with you.”
“So love has blinded you?”

In episode II, a unforgivably bad line is “I’m haunted by the kiss...”

"Not if anything to say about it, I have!"

Not just cringey, but it ruined the mood. Darth Sidious looked positively demonic, the awesome setting of the gigantic Senate chamber and the "Duel of the Fates" music set the stage for an epic battle between the most powerful Dark Side and Light Side masters of the Force. The cheesy jokes didn't fit.

Dude the worst is during the confrontation with Anakin and Obi-Wan....When Obi Wan says "Anakin, Chancellor Palpatine is evil!!" and poor Hayden has to reply with "From my point of view, it's the Jedi who are evil"

I don't blame Hayden...that line is just horrible and Lucas should have known better to cut it.

I agree. Such a bad line. Imagine being in a fit of rage and shouting “well, from my point of view, I personally disagree!” Like, who talks like that? It would’ve been much better for him to just say “The Jedi are evil!” Not to mention, the phrase “from my point of view” implies that his viewpoint is entirely subjective and not factual. That sucks a lot of weight out of his beliefs.

Only Ian McDiarmid can deliver a line like that in what should be the most serious moment of the entire saga.

Kenobi: "Wait a minute, we're smarter than this" in reference to ray shields

Kenobi: "Hello there" to General Grevious

Yoda: "Not if I have anything to say about it, I have"

Palpatine: "No, no, no, no you have lost!" to Windu. Also "The Jedi are taking over" to Anakin

Windu: "The oppression of the Sith will never return. YOU, have lost!"

There are just so many lines that could have been cleaned up in this film. I like this movie, but some of the dialogue and delivery by the cast, including talented ones, is just downright awful. George must not have cared because there is no way that many people didn't point it out to him.

Agree about the dialog. Some actors, like Jackson and McGregor, do the absolute best they possibly could’ve done with their dialog. The “oppression of the sith” line almost sounds decent coming out of Jackson’s mouth. It makes me wonder why Lucas never considered changing his dialog. Even Harrison Ford admitted he hated his lines during the filming of Episode 4, way back in 1976. I just don’t understand how actors could say these lines and not go “Hey, George, maybe I should say this instead?” And on top of that, it blows my mind that Lucas would go “no, my line is better.” Maybe he has Asperger’s or something.

I actually like that “we’re smarter than this!” line. It feels somewhat real to me, like Ewan McGregor was having a “wait a minute...” moment on set. There’s a lot of stupid stuff that goes unaddressed in these movies; The Jedi would never just barrell down a hallway like they did in that scene, and I guess it was nice to have Obi Wan call it out.

I see what you mean though. I never thought of it as a way of hinting towards Palpatine force clouding their judgement. That’s an interesting take. I always thought it was just poor writing and an uncreative excuse for them to get captured.

“If you’re not with me... then you’re my ENEMY”

Yes - I remember watching this in the theatres, and this immediately struck me as a reference to George W. Bush's "you're either with us or against us", which had been very controversial. And, of course, the follow-up line by Kenobi:

"Only a Sith deals in absolutes!"

reply

“You’re Han Solo”
“I bypassed the compressor”
“Did you see that?”
“Tell me we have a plan”
“That’s how were going to win, not fighting what we hate but saving what we love”
“You are a monster”

Oh wait

I don't know if it was bad lines or bad acting.
