well, ok - first of all let me say that i enjoyed this immensly (*sp?) i feel that it is about someone who wants to please a woman, but his initial advances are met with indeference. So he takes on the persona of someone who earlier in the street intimidated (but also captivated) him. However when he makes advances as this new alterego he is also rejected - the moral of the story being that if you can't please them as yourself, trying to be someone else won't help. it could just be the beers and the lonliness talking though....

SPOILERS

I think you hit the moral of the story dead on. It was only at the point when the protagonist decided to be himself that he got the girl, albeit not the superficial one he wanted initially, but the one he should have been with all along.
