Kino Version Vs. Alpha Video Version?

Well...
First of all, this film is just another "drug exploitation/morality play" movie, so prevalent in the 1930's. I saw nothing that made this film any better or any worse then Reefer Madness or any of the other ones (I've seen them all)...

Now, I got my copy of Narcotic out of a 4 DVD box set from Alpha Video (a subsidiary of oldies.com)... It a budget label that re-releases public domain movies, but Alpha Video's are usually very well remastered. I've seen LOTS of bad prints of public domain movies, and Alpha seems to be of a higher quality. Not to mention VERY cheap! For a bargin basement DVD/movie... It LOOKS great! Great sound, no really bad edits, clear picture.

That said, is there much, or ANY difference between the Kino & Alpha versions of Narcotic? I know Kino DVDs are FAR more expensive, and while this movie pretty much stunk any way you look at it, I'm just wondering if maybe the Kino version has a better print or might be longer? (Alpha DVD runs 57 min)

Please lemme know...

Kino Video releases are always going to be of a much higher quality than Alpha Video. Alpha is a total rip off even with lower prices. I've bought several of their DVDs, and have been very disappointed every time.

You're kidding right! "but Alpha Video's are usually very well remastered" made me laugh. I've got about 60 alpha videos of which about 5 are goodish quality. Alpha releases movies from whatever source material they can lay their hands on. In most cases, incomplete worn out 16mm film telecined straight to DVD. Alright secondhand for $1 but to ask if Kino is comparable? RFLMAO!
