30th Anniversary Edition DVD

Just watched this TV Pilot as part of the 'special features' on the 30th Anniv. Ed DVD of Blazing Saddles.

WOW, not good. A lot of the changes were simply senseless, especially the change in venue since so many of the characters in the movie were 2nd rate / bit players and could have been secured for a successful series. The fact that so many of the stars went on to bigger / better times leads me to think the lack of humor is the writer's fault. That said, the 'smart/jewish cop from Barney Miller' did not work as a southern (rebel) on again/off again drunk.

In this life the saddest words are these, what MAY have been ...

Goodnight, good luck, and may your God go with you.

This was my face while watching this;

:O

I couldn't believe that was Louis Gossett (apparently not a Jr. back then..?)

And I swear that “Curly” was one of the muties from the hills have eyes. Allegedly, he actually wasn’t.
