Eliot?

When Eliot talked to Ace, was it in his imagnation that Ace was talking back? I remember in one ep Artie came in and caught Eliot talking to Ace and said "Who are you talking to Mr.Shag?:"

I think a few other dogs saw this to and would ask: "Who's he talking too?"
