Schindlers List Reference?

In both Phantom Menace and Schindlers list a character (Qui Gon, Schindler) challenges a less than admirable character (Wato, Goeth) to a bet and if they win then they get to take someone who the villain was holding as a slave (Anakin, Helen). Oh yeah and both characters are played by Liam Neeson. Even the dialogue in both scenes is rather similar. What do you think?
