Threesome lightsaber fight

Darth Maul fighting Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon was pretty cool to watch. The location especially and the way the fight progressed is very enjoyable. Too bad Buff Savage wasn't around yet (clone wars).

Yes it was extremely cool wasn’t it. Loved the location choice too. What exactly WAS the location though? Such a huge building, with those big doors that required you to wait for them to open, what were they, what was their function?

Epic fight though, it gave you an inkling as to what these guys were capable of. One of, if not the best part of the film. This and the Pod race of course lol.

Some kind of power generating facility, perhaps.

reply

Yeah something like that.

reply

I believe it was in the basement of the royal palace, where the power plant was.

This fight was the highlight of the entire prequel trilogy.

reply

The score for that scene was just as awesome as the actual fighting!

I love the prequel fighting theme.

reply

It is called "Duel Of The Fates".

Phantom Menace is worth watching for the fight scene alone, it really is a standout moment of the prequel trilogy.

You'd think Jedi's would be more honorable than that. Going two on one against people don't seem fair.

reply

I suppose it’s fair, considering how powerful Maul is/was. Anyway, it would’ve been a bit shit for one of the Jedi to tell the other, upon encountering Maul, ‘you fight him, I can’t be bothered’ lol.

reply

They didn't know if he was the Sith Lord or the Apprentice. So pretty much kill first, ask questions later.

I liked it best of all the films. The battle between Luke and Darth on Cloud City is right there too, more for the talking and levels to it, there was drama in that battle between the two even though the swordsmanship isn't as good as Darth Maul vs. the two Jedi.

Obi-Wan and Anakin in Revenge of the Sith.....that was just so over the top and choreographed as some synchronized dance routine. It was too much and I didn't enjoy it as much. Plus I've always hated Christianson as Darth. It never worked for me.

The Phantom Menace duel, that was the best. I actually knew when I saw it that Maul (Park) was a real, trained swordsman/martial artist so it gave it another level of menace.

The only thing I didn't like about this duel? That constant breaks to go watch that ridiculous Gungan battle against the battle droids.
