When will the blu-ray be released?

It's been a long time and I think by the time it happens 4k quality will be the norm.

Believe in yourself and create your own destiny.

The print is too old and needs to be remastered and Fox doesn't think it's worth the money sales wise of the blu-ray vs cost to get it restored for blu-ray.

You may want to read this: https://web.archive.org/web/20070928010650/http://www.qwest.com/about/media/pressroom/attachments/DigitalCinema/white_paper_21.pdf

To sum it up: Titan A.E. was one of the first movies to be distributed and projected digitally. The article I linked to suggests (see quote below) that even in 2000 there was a 2k transfer of the movie available. That is more than enough for a solid Blu-ray release.

To master the digital cinema version of TITAN A.E., Fox used a Philips Spirit DataCine film scanner and DaVinci 2K color correction system to convert the movie to a digital format. A prototype Texas Instruments DLP Cinema projector was used as a visual reference for the colorist in the mastering suite. The digital picture and six channel uncompressed audio were recorded onto a Philips D6 VooDoo media recorder. The picture data was processed through a Digital Restoration System to remove any dirt that the film may have picked up. After color correction DRS and layback to the D6 VooDoo media recorder, Fox used a QuVIS QuBit server to encode the picture and audio of the completed master into a digital cinema file. The QuBit processed the movie in real-time using QuVIS Priority Encoding to guarantee the image quality of the original source, compressing 80 minutes into a 42 gigabyte digital file, making the movie easier to store and transport. Once the encoded movie was on the QuBit, the digital file was ready to be transported across the network.

I can still say for sure this title will not be released on blu-ray. Fox also has the distribution rights to Dreamworks' 'The Prince of Egypt' and they're not planning to release that either.

We will see. The market for physical media is more alive than you may think though. Still lots of films that are available on DVD and Blu-ray but not as download or streaming. I am pretty sure that we will see Titan A.E. in Blu-ray form. Maybe not in the US but hopefully here in Europe.
